Usually the first discussion with our client is via telephone. During this consultation will discuss which window(s) in which room(s) of your house you are looking to dress, whether you have decided between curtains or blinds, or require soft furnishing work from us. We’ll ask questions about the age and design of your house, the function of the room(s), when they are used and by whom: this will help us to advise you on the type/fabric/style of window dressing suitable for your specific needs. We will discuss initial ideas you have, existing colour schemes/décor in the room(s), and will begin to build up a picture of your taste and preferences when it comes to interiors.
Next we arrange to visit you at home to see the relevant room(s) of your house, measure up and look at the functionality of the window in terms of what fixings will be suitable, this would usually take around one hour. Penny will also discuss in more depth ideas about the type of window treatment, fabric, and colours you prefer and upon her return to the showroom will spend around 2-3 hours selecting a choice of around 20 fabrics for you to come and view here at Denton Drapes HQ.
We love to invite our clients into our beautiful studio to take a leisurely look through Penny’s fabric choices (usually over a cup of tea and biscuit/cake). You will be able to look through our fabric sample books, and can even take the books away with you to look at the fabric options in-situ if required. We can order large returnable samples of fabric if necessary: this is helpful if you’d like to see a large piece of the fabric to get an idea of the exact pattern, scale, colour etc.
Once the fabric has been chosen and the design agreed, we would issue an estimate to you, which will include a detailed breakdown of the fabric choice, design, where the treatment will be fitted, agreed fixings and an overall estimate of price. When you have read the estimate you will need to sign it (agreeing to our terms and conditions) and pay a 50% (non-refundable) deposit before we can begin working on your bespoke order.
Upon receipt of the deposit we’ll send our skilled and fully insured fitter to install the fittings. He will re-measure the window once fittings are up BEFORE the curtains are made to ensure an absolutely perfect fit for you. Our fitters are highly skilled professionals who will make sure they leave your home as they found it, just with added curtain fixings all ready for your new additions!
At this point our skilled curtain makers get to work on your bespoke order. They always check the fabrics for flaws before getting to work, and we do any liaising with fabric suppliers as necessary.
At Denton Drapes we aim for your curtains/blinds to be ready 4-6 weeks after your deposit has been paid. Busier periods such as the lead up to Christmas can sometimes mean a longer lead time, but we will advise you on this - we strive to always keep our clients fully informed! You can of course call us at any time to ask about your order, and we often share the progress of projects across our social media channels…so you might even be able to glimpse a peek of your beautiful window treatment being made!
Once your order is finished we hang/dress them in the workroom to ensure they are absolutely perfect for you. Once we are 100% happy with your curtains/blinds we will call you to arrange delivery/hanging.
1-2 days before delivery and installment you will be issued with the final invoice, which needs to be paid in full before we can install. We will then arrive on the date arranged to lovingly and skillfully install your bespoke window fitting.
We leave you with beaming smiles to enjoy your beautiful new window treatment for many years to come…
We look forward to hearing from you regarding your future window treatments…
